About
About WhatWePay.ng
An independent, community-powered price information platform for Nigeria. We help people find out what things cost and where to buy them. We don't sell anything.
Demo mode
This deployment is running in demo mode. No database is connected, so the app uses a small, fictional demonstration dataset. Every shop, contributor and price you see is made up for illustration — none of it is a real price.
Sign-in in demo mode starts a labelled demo session, not a real account. Anything you submit is kept in server memory only and disappears when the server restarts. Uploaded photos are not stored.
What we collect
- Price reports: product, price, date, location and optional shop details, notes and photos.
- Your account: email (private, used only to sign in), a display name or pseudonym, and optional bio.
- We never collect your own address or GPS position. A report records only the area and, if you choose, the shop. Shop addresses and map pins are public business information.
What is public
- Reports (except rejected ones), their status and verification history.
- Your display name — or "Anonymous contributor" if you make your profile private.
- Never public: your email, your account identifiers, and evidence photos (only you and moderators can see them).
Accuracy
Prices are reported by the community and change often. Treat them as a guide, check the date and status of each report, and expect the price in store to differ sometimes.
